Indian Spice Exports 2025-26: Reading the Data as a Buyer

India exported 17.34 lakh tonnes of spices and spice products worth ₹39,140.11 crore (US$4,430.90 million) in 2025-26, according to Spices Board India data. For buyers, headline growth is context only: every purchase still needs a grade-level specification, a destination-specific safety plan and a dated price source.

2025-26 export snapshot

Spices Board India's published export statistics put 2025-26 spice and spice-product exports at 17.34 lakh tonnes, valued at ₹39,140.11 crore or US$4,430.90 million. The Board publishes item-wise quantity and value on its major item-wise export page, which is the source to check for the latest revision.

Secondary trade summaries for the same period report cumin exports of roughly US$732 million (about 4.6% above the prior year) and turmeric exports of roughly US$342 million (about 51% higher), with turmeric demand linked to curcumin and wellness products. Treat these as indicative and confirm them against the Board's data before quoting them in a contract or presentation.

Why indicative prices are not a quotation

Published FOB ranges for cumin, turmeric and chilli vary by origin, grade, crop year, purity, packing and shipment month, and they move with the harvest and with currency. A price range on a website or in a trade blog is not an offer. Ask for a dated quotation that states the Incoterm, port, packing, specification and validity period.

Before you compare spice offers

  • Compare offers on the same grade, purity, moisture and packing, not on headline price.
  • Ask for the crop year and the lot-linked certificate of analysis.
  • State destination residue (MRL), contaminant and microbiology limits in the contract.
  • Define sampling, retained samples and the acceptance and claims process.
  • Check the validity date on every quotation, since spice prices can move within weeks.
